Tubal Damage

A Crimp in the Reproductive Plan

Tubal damage is one of the leading causes of infertility in adult women. Unfortunately, it's not often recognized until after several different fertility treatments have been attempted, since modern medical treatment begins at the hormonal and pharmaceutical level while investigating physical problems.

Tubal damage might not be noticed at all without the use of minimally invasive procedures such as laparascopy, hysterosalpingography, or fertiliscopy, as its effects may not be noticed by the woman beyond continued negative results on pregnancy tests.

Problems that may cause or result in infertility include endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, pelvic inflammatory disease, tubal occlusion, and various kinds of tubal dysfunction.

The Importance of Functional Fallopian Tubes

The fallopian tubes are the route by which the egg travels into the uterus. When these tubes are blocked, inaccessible, or damaged, the egg can't reach its destination. Often, fertilisation or implantation can't occur due to tubal damage, and in cases where it can, an ectopic pregnancy may be the result.

Ectopic pregnancies are fairly rare, and they can cause serious complications. Because many women are not aware of their own tubal damage, they may make continuous attempts to conceive. Positive results in early detection pregnancy tests will encourage them, and they may not think anything is wrong even while experiencing the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy.

Ectopic Pregnancy and Early Detection Pregnancy Tests

An ectopic pregnancy occurs whenever a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the uterus. Most commonly, this occurs inside a fallopian tube, and may be referred to as a tubal pregnancy. Tubal pregnancies will return a positive result on early detection pregnancy tests, and for this reason, the use of early detection pregnancy tests can be life-saving.

An ectopic pregnancy is an emergency situation. As the embryo grows, it will attach itself to the surrounding tissue in an effort to find a suitable blood supply for survival. Unfortunately, outside of the uterus, this can be painful and life-threatening for the mother. Early detection pregnancy tests have been known to save lives simply by returning positive results for a woman who then consulted her doctor with vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, and pain while using the bathroom.

The presence of positive results from early detection pregnancy tests help a doctor verify the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. If you've received positive results from early detection pregnancy tests and you are experiencing stomach cramps, abdominal pain and discomfort, or vaginal bleeding - even if it is very slight - you should see your doctor right away. The longer an ectopic pregnancy is allowed to continue, the greater the damage it can do; an embryo of only three to five weeks' gestational age can cause permanent tissue damage inside the fallopian tube.

If you've been trying to conceive and having difficulty, or are experiencing abnormal bleeding, you should get the results of early detection pregnancy tests right away. Whether the results of the early detection pregnancy tests are positive or negative will be of great importance to your doctor. As soon as you have results from your early detection pregnancy tests, make an appointment with your doctor, who can evaluate your condition and determine whether or not you're at risk of tubal damage.
