Frequently Asked Questions

How does the test work?

Our ultra-sensitive ovulation tests work by detecting the level of LH in your urine. Right before you ovulate, a significant surge of LH will be present.

How accurate are the results?

Our ovulation tests are designed with increased sensitivity to ensure results that are 99% accurate. They can detect LH levels as low as 10 mIU/ml.

How long are the results valid?

You should ideally read the results after 5 minutes. After 10 minutes, the test will be considered invalid, as an evaporation line may appear that could be mistaken for a positive result.

What should I do if the result is positive?

If the result is positive it means that an LH surge has been detected in your urine, which indicates that you will most likely ovulate within the next 24 to 36 hours. To increase your chances of conception, you should have intercourse the day you see this LH surge and the following day.

What should I do if the result is negative?

Continue testing for the next few days until you see a surge. It is possible to have a period every month without ovulating. If you repeatedly get negative results then see your doctor for advice.

What should I do if the result is invalid?

Make sure you read the instructions and follow them exactly and try again with a new test. Do not reuse the same test.

Why am I still not getting pregnant?

There are many factors that can affect your ability to become pregnant. It can take the normal healthy couple 3-6 months to conceive. If you are concerned about the length of time it is taking for you to become pregnant see your doctor for advice.

What if I'm taking clomid?

It is strongly advised that you wait at least 3 days after taking your last dose before using these tests, as it is likely to cause false positive results.

What might affect the results?

The test will not work properly if you are pregnant, menopausal or taking birth control pills. Medications containing hcG or LH may affect results, so consult your doctor if you are unsure about using these at the same time. Other common drugs such as analgesics and antibiotics should not affect results.

What are the limitations of the test?

The test only works if the instructions are followed exactly. Make sure you read and understand the directions before you begin. For a full list of precautions, please see the Instructions page.

Can I use ovulation testing as a form of birth control?

Our ovulation tests are designed to assist with planning conception and are not recommended as a form of birth control.
