Pregnancy Tests - Instructions for use

Instructions, precautions and understanding results for our One Step HCG Pregnancy Tests

Our pregnancy tests are quick and easy to use, yielding results that are 99% accurate. However, it is essential that you use the test correctly and observe all instructions and precautions carefully.

Precautions

Follow instructions exactly

  • Read the instructions carefully and completely before testing.
  • It is essential to use the test only as directed. If used incorrectly, the results may be inaccurate
  • The test is for in vitro diagnostic use only. It is not for internal use.

Confirm results with a qualified doctor

  • Although the test is 99% accurate, on rare occasions incorrect results may appear due to a number of different reasons such as certain health conditions.
  • If results are unexpected or inconsistent, check with your doctor

Store correctly

  • Store the test at room temperature in the sealed pouch. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Do not use after the expiration date. Each test has a shelf life of 2 years.
  • Throw away after usage. The test is designed for single use and should not be reused
  • Keep out of reach of children

Simple Procedure

  • Collect urine sample in a clean, dry container.
  • Open sealed pouch. Tear along the notch and remove test from its casing. Once out of the pouch, use the test as soon as possible.
  • Immerse the test in the urine. The arrow end should be pointing towards the urine, and it should not be immersed past the "max" line.
  • After 3 seconds, remove the strip and lay it out flat on a clean, dry, non-absorbent surface.
  • Wait 5 minutes for the result. If the test is positive, the coloured bands may appear within 40 seconds, but to confirm negative results it is important to wait the complete reaction time of 5 minutes. Make sure the background is clear to confirm results.
  • Do not wait any longer than 10 minutes before reading the results, as they may no longer be accurate by this time.

Clear, coloured-band results

diagram showing possible results from pregnancy test

Control band only: Negative result.

If only one colour band appears in the control region, the result is negative. This means that hcG concentration in the urine is either not present or too low for detection. You are most likely not pregnant.

Control band and pink/red band: Positive result.

Two bands in the test region indicate that a concentration of at least 15 mlU/ml of hcG has been detected. You are most likely pregnant.

No bands: Invalid result

No visible bands in either the control or test regions means the results are invalid. This is probably because there is insufficient specimen volume or the test has been used incorrectly. If uncertain results occur, try again with a new test and be sure to follow instructions exactly.
